Dalan law firm was established in Oslo in 1992 under the name Dalan, Sigmond, Hagemann & Lous, following the merger of the firm Dalan, Sigmond & Swang (which originated in 1876) with the legal practice of Lous, Hagemann, Arff-Pettersen & Løken (with roots stretching back to 1862).

Johannes Berg set up a law firm in 1862 and after Karl Lous joined as partner in 1874, their sons and grandsons entered the firm the name of which then alternated between Bergh & Lous and Lous & Bergh. As of today, the final generation of Lous to enter the firm was Søren Lous in 1986, when the name was changed to Advokatene Lous, Hagemann, Arff-Pettersen & Løken.
Fredrik Arentz Krog founded a law firm in 1876, which Annæus Schjødt joined as partner in 1891. Schjødt’s sons entered the firm in 1917, as did subsequently Bjørn Dalan (1953), Frithjof Sigmond (1956) and Ole Swang (1986). This firm was named Dalan, Sigmond & Swang in 1986.
